Army-Navy Party for the New Mexico Chapter

This year’s 118th edition of the Army-Navy game is back at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, on Saturday 9 December with kick-off at 1300 hrs (1 pm for you Air Force types) MT.  Who knows what the future might bring – beyond 2017, no host sites have been announced for the Army-Navy Game although there is a lot of interest.

Per a report by the Baltimore Business Journal, Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk indicated that ten cities are interested in hosting the game. Those ten include Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Houston, New York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.  The game would be played at the NFL venue in each city because Army-Navy requires a minimum seating capacity of 70,000.

Traditionally, the New Mexico chapter has held the Army-Navy game gathering at the Fox & Hound Sports Bar, off the Jefferson Exit of I-25 North in Albuquerque.  If the Board decides on a different venue this year, we will let everyone know in plenty of time.  We usually hold our Annual Meeting at half-time of the game, and thus we have decided against inviting West Point alumni to this gathering.

Yes, Army (finally) won last year, 21-17 with the game played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore (home of the NFL Ravens).  Navy still leads in the series, and it will be a most interesting challenge this year, following last year’s spirited contest.
